making meditation a habit
STARTS tuesday 27 january
Through the practice of meditation we can develop and maintain a peaceful mind all the time. If our mind is peaceful all the time, we will be happy all the time. So, if we really wish for ourself and others to be happy all the time we must learn to practise meditation.
Over this course, we’ll learn how to meditate and how to integrate our practice of meditation into our daily life. Through doing this we can reduce our stress, experience a calm, spacious feeling in the mind, and find many of our usual problems falling away. We will naturally feel warm and well-disposed towards other people, and our relationships with others will gradually improve. Everyone is welcome.
Cost:$15* (Centre members free) Buy a 4 or 10 class pass and save.
heart jewel
STARTS monday 2 february
A special opportunity to study Venerable Geshe-las’ book Heart Jewel. Je Tsongkhapa showed a perfect example of how to build the foundation for the spiritual path, how to progress on that path, and how to complete it.
The first is a popular practice of Relying on the Spiritual Guide in association with Wisdom Buddha Je Tsongkhapa, through which we can receive blessings and gain the realisations of the entire path to enlightenment.
The second is a special method to overcome obstacles and create favorable conditions for success in our spiritual practice by relying upon the Wisdom Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden.
These two special practices lie at the heart of Modern Kadampa Buddhism and are practiced every day by individuals and Kadampa centers around the worid.
In short, Heart Jewel provides an explanation of how to overcome obstacles and difficulties on the spiritual path by developing compassion, wisdom and spiritual strength.
Cost:$15* (Centre members free) Buy a 4 or 10 class pass and save.
Our drop-in classes are suitable for everyone and consist of simple guided meditations and teachings.
